Just a fun twirly dress for summer! It is a halter style with shirred back for comfort. The skirt is two layered to give a little contrast. I think I will be offering a custom slot of this dress on the Creatively Serene congo soon. For those of you who are not aware of what a congo is - it is a group of shops on hyena cart who get together to sell in one setting. Creatively Serene has so really great shops and I am so pleased to be able to join them soon!

Retro Flowers short set

This floral fabric is so fun! It can be paired with so many different colors and look great. In this set, I paired it with a burnt orange (bright but not too bright). The top is a puffed sleeve, shirred front and back tee. The sleeves and hemline are finished with lettuce edge. The shorts have a yoga-style waistband in brunt orange and the hem is again finished with a lettuce edge.

Well it has been a long couple of months break from sewing! I am finally starting to come out of the fog of the hyperemesis of this pregnancy. So first on my list was an outfit for my son. This helicopter print was perfect (or so I thought). I finished this outfit and he proceeded to tell me he wanted it green! The shirt is a curved raglan and is paired with a pair of yoked shorts. I love the detail on the shorts - yoked front and back with angled pockets on the front and back. It feels so good to be sewing again!

Bamboo Flower Girl Dresses

I was commissioned to make a couple of flower girl dresses. The bride's dress is made from bamboo silk, but for the little girls we decided that this bamboo woven would work better. The dresses are simple tie shoulder dresses. The tie back are attached to the dress between the bodice pieces using buttons. This was done to allow the tie backs to be changed is desired. The bridesmaids dresses are a sapphire blue. My customer was not sure if she would be able to get some of the blue fabric from the bridesmaids dresses. These dresses are so sweet in real life. It is hard to photograph a solid off white dress.

Some more things from my Disney Swap. My partner had shirts similar to this on her wist. I have not tied dyed anything since high school (which was a long time ago). So I went looking online for a tutorial. I found this one. The shirts I purchase were 50% cotton and 50% poly which I thought would be a problem. But I soaked in a soda ash soultion first and then went ahead and tried it anyway. Well, it seems to have worked. I have washed them once and it did not run. I made a total of 6 shirts (4 for the swap and 2 for my children). I have been informed that I need to make some more for our October Disneyland trip.

Little Red Riding Hood Twirling Dress

A customer ordered a twirling dress and asked if I could special order some fabric for it. She loved this Japanese imported Little Red Riding Hood fabric paired with another Japanese apple print. This is the result. The bodice was drafted from a tunic in an ottobre. I lengthened the sleeves, added length and width to the bodice and added a self drafted hood. It also had tie back to give a more fitted look. The skirt part is a six flounce redondo. My daughter is the same size and the customer was fine with her modeling the dress for some photos.

This line of fabric is just too much fun. I have done some many variations using the fabrics in the Chocolate Lollipop line by Free Spirit. Here is a redondo set. It does not show well on my dress stand. It is a size 8 and just a little too big for the stand.

This is the same skirt with a pink top. The placement of the flower on the shirt was too high. It will be included as an extra top for the skirt.

I love this top pattern. It is only my second attempt at this top. The first on yielded a top that is very low cut. So the pattern was modified and here is the result. It is still a deep v-neck but more modest then the first attempt.

The gaucho are so comfortable with a yoga-style waistband.

Pumpkin Raglan

I know it is still summer but I love the fall. This raglan is a nice reminder of the cooler weather to come - not soon enough though it is still 100+ degrees everyday here. I love all the detail in boys clothing. The pants have hip pockets, front pockets with flaps, and pleated back pockets with flaps. The waist is elastic for easy on and the mock fly is a nice touch to look more grown up. There is a raglan and boxer briefs to match these pants - it will be in the next post.

Birch Blossom Capri Set

This capri set is for the older sister to the little girl receiving the Sophia Willow set below. Halter top with shirred back is paired with ruffled capris. I added an optional sash to this outfit to break up the pattern of the top. The sash can be tied in the back, front or side depending on how the little lady would like to wear it. It could also double as a headband.

Sophia Willow Capri Set

The top is a modified Hersosa top. I just cannot use a pattern without modifying it. There are tie backs on the tip to give a more fitted feel. The capris have an adjustable waistband to ensure perfect fit. The ruffle of the Sophia Willow fabric bring the outfit together.

Paris Ruffled Capris

The first time I saw the ruffled culottes in the Chasing Fireflies catalog, I could not wait for the opportunity to make a pair. My daughter will not wear them because it is not a dress. So I took a chance and thought I would make them for the birthday swap. Moon if you are looking and you think your daughter would prefer a dress/skirt (I can always send a redondo).

This fabric had been sitting on my shelf for a little while. I liked it when I purchased it but did not know what I wanted to do with it. Then this project came about and it was perfect. The embroidery design was free on sewforum at one time (IIRC).

I started with a capri pants pattern and added the ruffles to the back and bottom. The top is a modified top from otto. I shirred instead of encased elastic and added tie-backs instead of shirring.

Buzz Lightyear shorts

We were in the store the other day and my son loved this shirt. There is sound box on it and it says "To Infinity and Beyond". He just loves it. So he needed some shorts to match.

Pirate Camp Shirt & Short Set

This set is for the older brother. I used the large pirate print for the front and back of the camp shirt. The coordinating strip was used for the sleeves and collar. The shorts are a red denim. There are large pockets on each side. One is embroidered with a treasure map. The embroidery design is from the same set as the pirate flag by Designs by JuJu.

Pirate Raglan Short Set

Yo ho, yo ho! This pirate print is fun. I used 2 coordinating prints for the shorts. One leg is the large pirate print the other leg is black with a large pocket of the other print. The curved raglan is embroidered with a pirate flag. The embroidery design is from Designs by JuJu.

Helicopter shorts

My husband & children joined my at the fabric store not too long ago. Well we could not leave the store without this helicopter fabric - there is an Apache on it! This is my favorite shorts pattern lately. The shorts are long like board shorts.

Happy Birthday Ralayna!

These dresses are going to a special little girl who just celebrated her birthday. She is the only girl of her parents 8 children. Her mom wanted some special and fun clothes for her.

First a redondo skirt set. She lives in a cooler climate so there is both short & long sleeve shirts to go with this set.
This shirt just does not hang right on my dress stand. The neckline is shirred and lettuce edged as well as the sleeves and hemline.

Next up, a twirling dress. Peasant style top with a redondo style skirt. Perfect for lots of twirling! The Chocolate Lollipop fabrics are so much fun!

Lastly, an On the Whim wavy dress. This line of fabric is just too sweet. This dress can be worn alone in the summer or with a long sleeve shirt in the winter.

Also included but no photoed are some knit shorts with the same lettuce edge as the brown shirt and a headband that matches the redondo skirt and reverses to solid brown.

Goldfish in a Bag!

I had fun doing this custom order. The reverse appliqué on the shirt actually has vinyl on top of the fabric to represent the bag. The shorts pockets use some the coordinating fabrics on the pockets. Six fish in bags are appliquéd on the pockets.
